Overcoming the Create a New Database problem under Windows Vista

If you are using the Windows Vista operating system, both Extra!32 and TossEm! will "freeze" after you press the Create pushbutton when creating a new database.  There are 2 solutions to this issue.  One is to copy a certain file to a certain location on your hard drive. This will stop the freezing issue.  At the same time, however, due to the new security measures in Windows Vista, every time you start Extra!32 or TossEm!, a window will appear asking you for permission to run either program.  This becomes a pain very quickly.  Since you only need to create your database shell one time, the following is the preferred way to get around this issue:

1) While Extra!32 or TossEm! is "frozen", press the CTRL, ALT & DEL keys at the same time.

2) Windows will present you with a menu of options.  Select Task Manager.

3) In the Task Manager window, click on the Processes Tab.  From all the files listed, locate the one named plusrun.exe

4) Click once on the file named plusrun.exe, then click the End Task pushbutton.  Windows will prompt you with a warning message.  Click the Yes pushbutton to confirm ending the process.  This will cause Extra!32 or TossEm! to stop running.

5) Restart Extra!32 or TossEm! and repeat the process of creating your database.  This time, your database will be created and both Extra!32 and TossEm! will work, just fine.
